Cardboard has been around for a very long time. Majority sees it as packaging, and rightly so. A sustainable material we all like. Ever thought of using it as an educational material? Interesting from the engineering point of view, playful and last but not least very educational. Why not exercise with your loved ones and make a Mars rover this weekend? See https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/edu/learn/project/make-a-cardboard-rover/ Learn from nature
Each day I have a little bird knocking on the window. Ever thought, we can learn from nature? “My” little bird is an inspiration for design with beautiful colors and layers. Structural engineered, swift and agile with aerodynamics. Pointy beak to catch food (and knocking on my window). Light weighting for shock absorption. Insulating feathers and water proofed. And not in the least behaviour aspects. The world of biomimetics has been and will be an area to learn from. In packaging, engineering, materials, design, technology, etc. Recall deployments of satellites in space - based on opening/closing features of plants and animals. Happy Monday! Noticed an interesting video yesterday. Happy to share:
Dispersion Coating for flexible papers Worth a watch - BASF Pilot Coating Center Starting Point High barrier flexible papers are in demand. Happy Friday! The news is out! My direct colleagues have been informed this week. I resigned from MDLZ last week with the purpose of an "early retirement". With 3 months’ notice, my last day would be 20 July. Please do not use this private email address for any MDLZ related communication. It is for your files and for any future connections. At least if you want any continuous contact. Being realistic, I know I need to keep my body and brains active. The running and related marathon preparation, along with keeping English Springer Spaniels, will fix one part and keeps me fit. My hobby, astronomy, does keep my brain in sane. Though, it would not be enough. I feel it would be a shame to waste my knowledge and about 45 year experience in so many top companies, such as Estee Lauder, Nestle, Campina, COTY, Marks & Spencer, COSi, Cadbury-KraftFoods-Mondelez. I hope our past contact proved my passion and eager for packaging related topics. It is a big decision saying goodbye to a massive reliable and huge corporate company. Mondelez has been a wonderful company to work for. Even in difficult times, when my late wife was poorly. I had full support and I could not wish to be with a better company. I feel the need to move on. A next chapter in my life. Currently investigating of being a free lance and consultancy. I will be available for adhoc projects, to those in need of packaging advice, support and guidance. I you think I can be of any help and assistance to you and your company, you know where to find me. Feel free to connect [email protected] Have a lovely day, a sunny weekend, and ... keep smiling! Patrick |
